A Bench Above The Rest
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Better Stone™ be repaired if it is damaged?
Absolutely, chips are certainly repairable. The technology is advancing as more products are being produced more commonly. This is usually a process that is organised through your slab manufacturer or a third party.
"My benchtop has developed a crack. Does the Lifetime Warranty cover this issue?"
Cracking is generally not covered under the Better Stone’s Lifetime Warranty as it typically occurs due to a fabrication or installation error, or as the result of mechanical stress and does not represent a fault in the Better Stone® product itself.
However, If a crack appears, please reach out to the kitchen company or stonemason who installed your benchtop for further assistance. Factors that can lead to cracking include:
• Insufficient support beneath the bench
• Incorrect positioning of cutouts and joins
• Failure to account for thermal expansion, thermal shock, or excessive heat
• Significant impact
What steps do I take if I have damaged my benchtop?
Please take a note of the batch number, colour, installation date and give us a call or contact us online and we will talk you through the next steps and how we can assist you.
How can I prevent my benchtop from chipping?
Although Better Stone is an exceptionally durable material—stronger than both marble and granite—there are some simple precautions you can take to reduce the chance of chips forming.
Avoid using sharp-edged, non-rounded profiles, as these are more prone to damage. Better Stone advises using edge profiles with a minimum radius of 3–4mm. The greater the curve, the better the edge can absorb impact without chipping.
If your benchtop features an undermount sink, make sure the upper edge of the Better Stone cut-out has at least a 6mm radius. This helps protect the edge from damage if a heavy item like a pot accidentally strikes it.
Also, ensure that all cabinetry and drawers are properly aligned so they don't rub or knock against the Better Stone surface when opened or closed.
Lastly, always be cautious not to drop heavy objects directly onto the benchtop to avoid chips or cracks.
